May 10: Several top leaders of PAS have discovered that their mobile phone numbers had been used to send racist text messages.
PAS deputy president Mohamad Sabu and vice president Salahudin Ayub were among those who were shocked when told that they had sent racist messages.
"I have been told today that I was sending racist messages all over!" said a shocked Mat Sabu to Harakahdaily.
One of the messages reads: "Mampus Melayu..Hidup cina..." (Death to Malays, Long live Chinese).
"I will immediately lodge a police report," said Mat Sabu, who pointed out it was the desperate work of detractors of PAS.
Mat
Sabu further said it was part of efforts by certain quarters to
interpret the results of the just-concluded elections through racial
lenses.
Since BN's poorest electoral performance last weekend,
UMNO-owned Utusan Malaysia has been criticising Chinese voters, saying
the community was 'ungrateful'.
While UMNO bloggers have also
published several racist remarks, including one by a Facebook user
urging Malays to slaughter the Chinese.
At press time, the authorities have yet to bring charges to any of them.
